Frequent Malfunctions of Inkjet Equipment in Hot Summer?

26 Jun,2025

In the scorching summer, inkjet equipment in many enterprises frequently "acts up", and the high incidence of failures has caused considerable headaches for manufacturers. As a key device for printing graphics, QR codes, barcodes, corporate trademarks, anti-counterfeiting marks, and other content on product surfaces, inkjet printers have long become important roles in production lines by virtue of the advantage of "non-contact printing". The prices of inkjet equipment on the market vary widely, ranging from tens of thousands to millions of yuan, which further highlights the importance of scientific maintenance - especially in summer, it is a golden period to "escort" the equipment.

Three "Health Risks" of Inkjet Equipment in High Temperature Weather and Countermeasures

(Figure 1: Schematic Diagram of Key Points for Summer Maintenance of Inkjet Equipment)

1. Soaring Ink Viscosity Greatly Reduces Printing Effect

Problem Performance: If the inkjet equipment is idle for more than 5 days, inks of different brands and types will have increased viscosity due to high temperatures, directly leading to abnormal internal pressure of the equipment, out-of-control breaking points, and blurred printed characters or patterns.

Solution: Timely add special diluent to the ink tank, adjust the ink viscosity through dilution, and restore the equipment to a smooth printing state.

2. Nozzles "Accumulate Dirt", Frequent Blocking Issues

Problem Performance: During the operation of the equipment, ink residues or impurities easily adhere to the surface of the nozzle. High temperatures in summer will accelerate the drying of residues, causing nozzle blockage and spray holes.

Solution: Enable the built-in automatic nozzle cleaning function of the equipment and carry out regular deep cleaning; after daily use, promptly wipe the nozzle surface with special cleaning solution to prevent accumulation.

3. Accelerated Volatilization of Consumables, Escalated Safety Hazards

Problem Performance: The volatilization speed of consumables such as inks and solvents is significantly accelerated in high-temperature environments, which not only leads to a surge in consumable usage but also the volatilized gases may trigger safety risks in the workshop.

Solutions:

Pay close attention to the remaining amount of consumables and replenish them in a timely manner as needed to avoid affecting production due to material shortages;

Keep the production workshop well-ventilated, and strictly implement fire prevention measures, staying away from open flames and static power sources.

"Golden Rules" for Summer Maintenance of Inkjet Equipment

Regularly Power on and Run: Even on non-production days, it is recommended to power on and idle for 10-15 minutes every week to prevent ink from solidifying due to long-term static placement;

Strictly Control Environmental Temperature: For workshops with conditions, air conditioners can be installed, and the operating environment temperature of the equipment is preferably controlled at 25-30℃;

Establish a Maintenance Ledger: Record the time and details of each consumable addition and cleaning operation to facilitate tracing the equipment status.

Maintaining inkjet equipment in the high-temperature season is not only the key to ensuring production efficiency but also a "compulsory course" for extending the service life of the equipment. Do a good job in detailed protection, so that the equipment can also stably "output" in the heat and escort the production of enterprises!
